The Middle East region has always been the focus of attention of regional and extra-regional powers due to its geopolitical and geostrategic position and rich energy resources. One of the most important aspects of the foreign policy of these powers has been the attempt to influence the political and security developments in the region through the adoption of interventionist and competitive strategies. In recent years, the spread of Takfiri ideas and the emergence of terrorist groups such as ISIS, in addition to intensifying instability, violence and insecurity in the Middle East, has paved the way for increased interventions and influence of extra-regional powers in some countries in the region. At the same time, the spread of Takfiri terrorism has led to the intensification of competition between regional powers to secure and expand their strategic interests and, in some cases, has led to the adoption of confrontational and hostile policies and strategies. Accordingly, the present study aims to analyze the strategies of regional and trans-regional powers in directly or indirectly supporting Takfiri terrorism in the Middle East and to explain the factors and motivations that influence the role of these actors in regional security developments. This study attempts to examine the geopolitical, security, and political dimensions of these strategies and their consequences for regional order and security.
